What is toenail fungus?
Toenail fungus is a thickening of the toenail that becomes brittle, crumbly, yellow and white caused by microscopic organisms.(Dermatophytes) It is very common as we age and our circulation decreases. Other possible causes are heavy perspiration and socks and tight shoes that create a warm and moist environment. (ideal for toenail fungus growth)
Diabetic Foot Care
It is very important to have your feet examined by a Podiatist on a routine basis to take care of long thickened nails and corns, callouses, burning and numbness and dry skin.
High blood sugar can cause you skin to get dry. Dry skin, callouses and corns can crack and allow germs to enter and cause infection. Too much sugar in the blood feeds the germs causing the infection to grow and get worse. A Podiatrist can effectively treat infections but it is best to receive routine exams and foot care as a matter of prevention. This is a covered service by Medicare.
Heel pain is usually worse in the morning getting out of bed and taking a few steps and later in the day after sitting down for a few minutes and then standing up again. It is usually caused by a tearing of some tissue in the arch or from a heel spur. Your House Call Podiatrist can fit you with a pair of shoe inserts to get rid of this problem without the need for painful steroid injections or surgery.
Dr. Paul M. Kanter is a house call Podiatrist with over 30 years of experience.
This old fashioned service is ideal for patients that have difficulty traveling to and from a Podiatrists office and do not enjoy waiting long periods of time in a small stuffy waiting room. Home care means less exposure to colds and the flu and the average waiting room time is over one hour in most offices. When you add the travel time to the waiting time, you can sometimes waste half a day for a brief visit.
Home visits are covered by Medicare and co-insurance much the same way as an office visit. With over 30 years experience treating foot problems, Dr. Kanter can bring his office to you.
Any treatment I have performed in my office can be treated in the comfort of your home: corns, callouses, thick yellow toenails, ingrown toenails, skin disorders, burning and numbness pain, crooked toes and bunion pain, arch, heel and ankle discomfort, ulcers and other Diabetic foot problems.
Unlike large clinics and large corporations that have several doctors on call, you will always see Dr. Kanter each and every visit.
I do my best to be available 7 days a week! I can be reached day or night at 800-299-2724
